Out of all the cookies to bake during the holidays, Christmas Sugar Cookies are my all time favorite! When I was a girl I would bring out my toy baking utensils while my mom baked. I would pretend & play baker with the dough while Christmas music played in the background. I used to think I was the ultimate baker in the family. To me these cookies are addictive. I love them and my kids love them too! To make my Christmas Sugar Cookies here is what you will need.
2/3 cups butter softened (which equals to 1 1/3 sticks of butter)
3/4 cup sugar
1 Tbs. + 1 Tsp. milk
1 Tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1 1/2 Tsp. baking powder
3/4 Tsp. salt
In a mixing bowl add butter, sugar, milk, and vanilla.
Mix on medium speed.
Then add the egg.
Mix in flour, baking powder, and salt.
Once everything is well mixed and combined, wrap dough in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 2 hours or more.
When dough has chilled, take out of the fridge, and spread some flour on your counter top.
Knead dough in flour until dough has become soft.
Spread some more flour on counter top and roll out dough.
Use Christmas cookie cutter set to shape cookies.
Sprinkle some Christmas sugar sprinkles or any sprinkles of your choice on top of the cookies.
Bake cookies at 375 for 7 to 10 minutes. Or until edges are a light golden.
Let cookies cool and enjoy with a glass of cold milk! Yum!
