Since I can remember, my mom has always made her sweet potato casserole on every holiday. Her recipe for sweet potato casserole is the easiest recipe you can find. The taste and the smell as it bakes will consume your senses. And as you eat this classic side dish with your main course, it will make you be wanting more! Here is what you will need to make it.
4 to 5 medium sweet potatoes
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup of Log Cabin Syrup
1/2 cup of butter
Cinnamon to garnish (optional)
Note: If you feel you need more sauce to pour over sweet potatoes, you can add a half cup more of each ingredient.
Cut sweet potatoes in half leaving the skin on.
Place in a pot full of water and boil until sweet potatoes are soft.
Drain water from pot and peel skin off sweet potatoes.
After skin is peeled off cut sweet potatoes into big chunks and place them into a casserole tray.
In a separate pot combine brown sugar, Log Cabin syrup, and butter. When mixture has melted and reaches a boil, take pot off the stove and drizzle over the sweet potatoes.
Sprinkle some cinnamon over the top of the sweet potatoes. (Optional)
Keep casserole warm in your oven until ready to serve, and enjoy!
